My second niece was born in May and I never miss an opportunity to make a cake for a family event, so I managed to talk my sister into letting me make the cake for the christening. Truth was I had bought a new silicon mould and desperately wanted to try it out :) I made some simple flowers and leaves with cut outs and then focused mainly on the baby. To make it look more real, I painted some hair with edible food colour, and in the baby’s little crevices I brushed softly with brown powder colour, also edible of course. It makes all the difference, without this colouring, the baby would just look like something moulded in rubber. Cake filling is once again raspberry and vanilla, one of my favourites and it’s easy to succeed with.
